MEDIEN, ORTE UND RITUALE DER FRAUEN

International workshop, 21−23 Oktober 2018 / Smolenice, Slovakia

− The workshop was intended to cover the period between the16th and the 19th centuries focusing on the Kingdom of Hungary. It was organized around a subject area that had only been marginally dealt with in cultural, social and communication studies until quite recently. The focus of the two-day conference, organized with the participation of Hungarian, Austrian and Slovak historians and literary historians, was the investigation women‘s relationship-building and communication strategies, action spaces and media in relation to different social backgrounds. The presentations reflected on questions related to the changing constructions of women’s roles over time, the operation of narrower and wider female relationship networks, the genre characteristics of women’s writing, and the social, political, cultural or mental meanings of knowledge and information transfers by women.
