The first jointly edited volume of the two collaborative partners who created the WOMEnKULT platform, historian Lilla Krász and literary historian Brigitta Pesti, focuses on the territory of the Kingdom of Hungary from the 16th to the 20th century. As for the 20th century, it presents the systems and networks of women’s communication tied to social and cultural factors, including their changes over time. In the studies of Hungarian, Austrian and Slovak authors, the ritualized aspects of women’s sphere of action and roles, the working mechanisms of their narrower and wider network of relationships, the defining mediums that characterized women’s writing for more than three centuries are displayed. At the same time, the authors of the writings organized into three major thematic chapters reflect on the changing status and position of women within and outside the family over time, as well as on their specific communication culture in the transmission of knowledge and information.
